Workshops
VL/HCC'04 will host two satellite workshops on september 30, 2004:
- Int. Workshop on the Foundations of Spreadsheets (FoS'04)
-
eecs.oregonstate.edu/~erwig/FoS/
Spreadsheets are among the most used software packages. Spreadsheets
are used
in many different application areas by many people, most of whom are not
professional programmers or computer scientists. Numerous studies have
shown
that existing spreadsheets contain errors at an alarmingly high rate.
Therefore, knowledge about the use and users of spreadsheets as well as
tools
and techniques that can improve the creation and maintenance of
spreadsheets
are in great demand. This workshop is concerned with all aspects that
affect
the effective use of spreadsheet systems. We invite you to submit
papers that
help to identify ways to improve the currently unsatisfactory situation
of
spreadsheet programming.
- Visual Languages and Formal Methods (VLFM'04)
-
www2-data.informatik.unibw-muenchen.de/VLFM04/
Visual languages and formalisms have always been used in computer
science and other fields. With primarily visual methods like UML and
SDL, they have become a standard in the process of software analysis,
design, and implementation. Moreover, there are many formal modeling
and specification approaches where visual approaches are existing or
evolving, e.g., for specifying transformations for MDA or for OCL, in
order to make such approaches more comprehensible and usable. On the
other hand, formal methods are inevitable for specifying, designing as
well as implementing visual languages and methods.
